The Russian Lake Monster

Today I am going to take you to Russia where it seems locals are demanding Lake Chany be properly probed. Probed? Probed of what? Why? While you may be expecting a joke about alien abductees here, the news is much more dire. It appears that the lake “mysteriously” took the life of a 59 year old man last week.
 
“I was with my friend some 300 yards from shore. He hooked something huge on the bait, and he stood up on the boat to reel it in.” 60 year old Vladimir Golishev, friend of the man who mysteriously died in the lake, said. “But it pulled with such force that it overturned the boat. I was in shock – I had never seen anything like that in my life.”
 
“I pulled off my clothes and swam back to shore, not daring hope I would make it.”
Mr. Golishev proceeds to talk about how is friend was pulled under the water and vanished without trace. No body has been recovered.
 
Unfortunately, stories like these are commonly reported at Lake Chany. Within the 3 years local officials say Lake Chany he claimed up to 19 individuals, yet locals beg to differ and claim the number his much higher. However, these locals aren’t claiming under currents or the inability to swim (which would be my two guesses). No, the solution is much simpler than that: a creature named Nesski. Locals swap stories about some of these bodies washing up on shore with large teeth marks, having been eaten by some unknown creature. While these stories aren’t documented, they seem to lend credibility to Nesski’s existence.
 
These stories are so strong that even people who have never witnessed the marine beast swear it exists. “Something of an awesome scale lives in the lake, but I have never seen it,” said 81 year old Vladimir (not Vladimir Golishev). However, Vladimir isn’t that far off with that assessment, for it turns out very large, very documented carp and sturgeons live in Lake Chany.

Supposedly Nesski resembles that of Nessie which is the plesiosaur-like creature that allegedly inhabits Loch Ness. I find it very funny how the name sounds quite similar as well. I guess ‘Vladimir’ was already taken.
